Before starting wedding preparations this Muhurta is done on an auspicious day. Here, at least five “Suvasini” (married women) are invited. With iron pestle tied with mango leaves the Suvasinis, one by one, pound halkund (dried haldi) in iron mortar into fine haldi powder, which is used later during halad chadhavane. Thereafter, they roll out papads and make “Sandage” (soaked dals ground with spices made into tiny balls and dried in Sun) and “Botavi” (used later for Kheer).
